About Petersfield Arts and Crafts Society

We are a well established society of amateur and professional artists and craftspeople committed to promoting arts and crafts in the Petersfield area.

Our workshops, talks and demonstrations are open to everyone and we offer a friendly and encouraging environment where beginners and professionals can meet. Members are encouraged to be involved in the programme and are able to organise activities such as sketching groups and small exhibitions under the wider umbrella of the society. New ideas are always welcome!

Our annual exhibition in August is usually the highlight of the year, attracting visitors from far and wide

Membership of Petersfield Arts and Crafts Society

To become a member of PACS you first of all need to be residing in the Petersfield area (within 10 miles as the crow flies). You also need to be actively involved in making art (both professional and amateur makers are welcome) and have a willingness to participate in coming to demos, taking part in exhibitions and above all getting to know other like-minded creative people.

PACS is run by a committee made up of volunteer members and depends entirely on these contributions of time and effort to keep going.

All exhibiting members have to contribute their time in some way at the summer exhibition (a duty rota is issued) and a large proportion of members help in many roles throughout the year. Although we will understand if at times you are less able to be involved, there is an expectation that all members will offer their skills and time wherever they can. The society can only function if everyone takes part in some way and we all benefit from this joined effort.

Joining Petersfield Arts & Crafts Society

The PACS year begins in January when all renewals are due but you may join at any point in the year to enjoy our activities and benefits.

Membership costs £25 a year (January to January) for adults and £12.50 for Under 21s. Joining after May 31st costs £12.50 or £6.25 respectively and members joining after May 31st are not entitled to exhibit in the main exhibition in August. Members joining for the half year are still entitled to all other member privileges.

Meetings, Workshops & Exhibitions Programme 2021

Our annual programme usually consists of a varied series of talks, demonstrations, workshops and exhibitions. Evening meetings are usually held at 7.30pm on the last Thursday of the month at Herne Farm Leisure Centre, Petersfield, Hampshire GU31 4PY.

These are free for members. Visitors are welcome and pay £3 at the door (under 18s free of charge).

This year many revisions have been made in order to keep up with government guidance on not hosting gatherings and events and the committee will be constantly reviewing the situation.

Under current plans due to Covid the demonstrations have had to move online and are only available to members who will receive zoom invitations in advance.

Saturday workshops are held at Liss Triangle Community Centre from 10am – 4pm. These cost £40 for non-members and £34 for members with half price for juniors (under 21). For more detail about workshop booking and policies please visit the Workshops page.

We also offer life drawing sessions with George Spear. More details and booking are on the workshops page of our website.

Unfortunately this year we will again not be able to hold our usual large exhibition as our venue, the Festival Hall in Petersfield, is in use as a vaccination centre. Various other options were explored and discussed by the committee but no suitable venue could be secured.
There are now plans for a small winter exhibition so please visit our website again in the autumn to find out more!
