About The Artist

Pursuing further education in art was not encouraged at school (or home) so he studied zoology, sometimes known as the ‘artist’s science’ (possibly because of the amount of drawing involved).

A long career in computer software development didn’t allow for too much artistic progress, so Mike is now making up for lost time. He is fairly prolific and generally paints subjects based on places that he knows and enjoys, using either oils or acrylics.

Although his paintings are fairly figurative, his inclination is towards more abstraction. Unfortunately, the left side of the brain doesn’t always share this ambition and has an undue influence on the results.

Chichester Art Society, Portsmouth Art Society, Chichester and Hayling Island Arts Trail and Hampshire Open Studios.

Mike exhibits regularly, including the Portsmouth and Hampshire Art Society Summer Exhibitions, Oxmarket Centre of Arts Exhibitions and the Chichester and Hayling Island Arts Trail.
