This painting is inspired by colours of the New Forest National Park. If you look closely, the colours are so varied, even the browns have a beautiful purple or red tinge. The cooler blue boggy areas reflect the beautiful blue sky above.

Photographs and sketches are taken back to her studio in Winchester where she paints mainly in Acrylics and Mixed Media.
“For me, it is not simply about the entire view or object which I choose to paint. I love to focus in on certain areas which might go unnoticed. A rusty tractor engine; pebbles on a beach; the lock of an old door; peeling paint on a sign.
Exploration and play are an important part of my painting process and layers of paint are added before the final painting begins to take shape. I want to create art which encourages the viewer to notice the beauty in the unexpected.”
Rebecca graduated from Surrey Institute of Art and Design, gaining a BA in Graphic Design (Visual Communication) and worked as an account manager for many years. In 2013, she chose to focus full time on her painting and has been developing her artistic practice ever since. She has taken various online and in-person workshops.
I have exhibited at local exhibitions including Hampshire Open Studios, The Nutshell, Winchester, Titchfield Art and Craft Show.
Marigolds was created one day in September when on looking out of my kitchen window, saw our bed of wildflowers and marigolds glimmering in the autumn sun.
I just had to rush out and take some flowers to my studio to paint. I had to work fast before the flowers faded and the petals started to fall. This memory will live on in this painting. I was struck by their vibrancy.

Why was I looking? My father passed away last November and we have started to sort and clear his workshop. He originally used oil but in more recent years was converted to using acrylic as it was more convenient. He thoroughly enjoyed painting and creating scenes, many based on local villages or photographs taken on holiday.
