Inspired by the pond next to Manor Farm near Bursledon during a beautiful warm, autumnal day. Looking across the pond, from the church, the farm can be seen through the trees. The reflections upon the still pond are so calming.

Photographs and sketches are taken back to her studio in Winchester where she paints mainly in Acrylics and Mixed Media.
“For me, it is not simply about the entire view or object which I choose to paint. I love to focus in on certain areas which might go unnoticed. A rusty tractor engine; pebbles on a beach; the lock of an old door; peeling paint on a sign.
Exploration and play are an important part of my painting process and layers of paint are added before the final painting begins to take shape. I want to create art which encourages the viewer to notice the beauty in the unexpected.”
Rebecca graduated from Surrey Institute of Art and Design, gaining a BA in Graphic Design (Visual Communication) and worked as an account manager for many years. In 2013, she chose to focus full time on her painting and has been developing her artistic practice ever since. She has taken various online and in-person workshops.
I have exhibited at local exhibitions including Hampshire Open Studios, The Nutshell, Winchester, Titchfield Art and Craft Show.
From my New Forest Series, this painting is inspired by the waters just as you head into Mudeford Quay. I spent many a happy day down on the coast and this painting just reminds me of the feeling of freedom and of relaxation.
I feel like I am being taken on a journey, being transported through this piece and the warmth of that orange against the cool blue colour is just so calming.
You can just see the boats in the distance bobbing on the blue waters and hear the clanging sound against the masts of those on shore.

Why was I looking? My father passed away last November and we have started to sort and clear his workshop. He originally used oil but in more recent years was converted to using acrylic as it was more convenient. He thoroughly enjoyed painting and creating scenes, many based on local villages or photographs taken on holiday.
