About The Artist

I’m a full time artist based in Lindford, Hampshire, working pastels.

At at the age of 15, one of my artworks was exhibited at the Tate in London and this encouraged me to go on to study at the Norwich School of Art (now Norwich University of the Arts).

After a series of corporate roles and running my own business, I have returned full time to my original passion - creating detailed, realistic wildlife artwork and accepting commissions for equine and pet portraits.

I have a passion for all animals and they have always been a huge part of my life. I particularly enjoy using pastels as they allow you to build up the layers and intensity of colour, before finally adding all the details. I try to capture the spirit of the animal, to really bring the piece to life.

About The Artist

About The Artist

It wasn’t until the age of 40, that Irene was at last able to follow her dream; to study Fine Art and later to become an Art Tutor.

Soon after completing her studies, she co-founded the AVA Art Group, formed to encourage Art into the community, which ran for many years. Irene’s own Art began to evolve.

Irene was offered the chance to exhibit in London; Waterloo Gallery and The Mall Galleries.

She was and is a member of various Art Groups and continues to exhibit.

Later, further afield, she and her husband purchased a cave-house in Andalusia, Spain, with a studio, where she paints when on holiday, exhibiting locally there.

In 2012 She created a series of work for her Solo Exhibition, celebrating the Olympics, based on “movement”. Irene’s techniques have continued to evolve and now, she explores everything around her. Her unique representation of portraiture, movement techniques and quirky art such as “food on a plate”, have brought her so much pleasure and others too.

About The Artist

I am a self-taught artist living in Romsey, Hampshire and have been drawing, painting and creating my whole life.

I use a wide range of mediums including Pastels, Acrylics and Oils. Painting is an essential part of my life and I spend any spare moment in my day, even if it's just 5 minutes, painting, sketching or sourcing my next piece.

My love of all wildlife feeds my appetite to paint any creature that captures my imagination. My ambition is to invoke the same emotional connections I experience whilst painting. Not only for the painting itself, but also the creature it encompasses.

Bringing an animal to life on canvas is an incredibly uplifting feeling and is something I wish to share with all who see my work.
